Associate Principal/Principal, Life Sciences Partnerships

| Greater NYC Area

Flatiron Research was founded in 2014 with the goal of serving cancer patients by accelerating research. We believe that existing clinical research paradigms are ill-equipped to answer the research questions that face drug developers, academic researchers, and regulators in the oncology space today. By focusing on technology solutions that can be deployed widely across the Flatiron network of providers, Flatiron Research has the opportunity to generate insights that were previously impossible.

Today, Flatiron Research is focused on innovating in the Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Clinical Trials space. Our technology-first approach has allowed us to build RWE data sets with higher quality, accuracy, recency, and scale than any other cancer data that is available. We have active partnerships with top-tier academic medical centers, the top 15 biopharma companies in oncology, the FDA, and most recently the NCI, all focused on using data to accelerate the research and treatment of cancer. The Life Sciences Partnerships team supports our biopharma partners in advancing their research priorities using Flatiron Research offerings.

This team is looking for individuals with a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, an analytical approach to problem solving, and client management and organizational skills who is highly motivated by being part of a cross-functional team focused on transformational change in the area of cancer research.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic engagement to develop long term, enterprise-wide partnerships with our biopharma partners, as well as other strategic collaborators (e.g., government / regulatory, advocacy groups)
  • Become a subject matter expert on Flatiron’s offerings and reliably represent our capabilities to advance the research priorities of our biopharma research collaborators
  • Ensure effective day to day engagement with our biopharma research collaborators (e.g., HEOR, Bioinformatics, Medical Affairs), including on-site representation at client meetings (anticipated travel:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for biopharma research collaborators, interfacing to align Flatiron's offerings with client needs and selling new products and services to meet those needs
  • Lead development of new business proposals -- directly contributing to Flatiron revenues across the Research business
  • Collaborate with Flatiron’s cross-functional research team to ensure Flatiron delivers high quality work to our biopharma partners that exceeds client expectations
  • Act as the voice of the customer and collaborate across internal functional groups (product, research oncology, quantitative science, engineering, business development, legal and finance team members) to identify opportunities to enhance existing products, identify new potential product offerings and influence go-to-market strategy
  • Identify client-driven opportunities to enhance existing products, and identify potential new product offerings
  • Closely partner with the broader Life Sciences Partnerships team to execute against Flatiron’s sales strategy to drive explosive growth for the Flatiron Research business
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, such as identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities for Flatiron and championing new processes to optimize Flatiron Research

Requirements:

  • You’re interested in engaging directly with biopharma partners to help advance their research and business related strategies
  • You can apply your healthcare background (preferably including a focus on RWE, clinical oncology and/or HEOR) to support end-to-end client engagement process, including capabilities presentations, project scoping, and customer support

An Insider's view of Flatiron Health

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The most exciting part of being in my company is solving a real problem at scale through serious collaboration. Oncologists, software engineers, statisticians, business folks, etc. all have to come to the table together, as equals, to figure this one out. And we are doing it.

Amy

Chief medical Officer

What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?

An engineer and oncologist work together over several weeks to build an algorithm from a naive prototype to a highly specialized and flexible rule set that can accurately represent the lines of therapy for 95% of patients within a specific disease subset.

Abhishek

Software Engineer

How does the company support your career growth?

As engineering manager, I am invested in the professional development of the people I work with. I train team members by pulling them out of their comfort zones to the uncomfortable territory. At Flatiron, it is one of our values - greatness and comfort rarely co-exist.

Kevin

Software Engineering

What is your vision for the company?

At Flatiron, we believe that learning from the experience of every cancer patient is an imperative — it is the key to accelerating research and continuing to improve the quality of care. Our mission is to serve cancer patients and our customers by dramatically improving treatment and accelerating research.

Zach Weinberg

Co-Founder, President and COO

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Instead of studying the cells, I now have the opportunity to write about the patients. I can tell their stories through the research lens and enable them to advance clinical cancer research through their experiences. I certainly never lose sight of the human behind the cell anymore.

Medical Writer
