They will be responsible for helping partners in their day-to-day challenges by delivering innovative, scalable solutions and troubleshooting issues. We are looking to hire someone who understands web technology, learns fast, is not afraid of complexity, and is comfortable working with both clients and technical teams. The technical Account Manager not only has strong tech skills to troubleshoot some of the toughest issues but has strong soft skills as well.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Technical Account Managers oversee integrations with clients, inventory/publisher partners, data partners and others. The TAM is responsible for guaranteeing the technical aspects of the assigned partner integrations (both new and ongoing) by providing necessary documentation and technical guidance. They serve as liaisons between our partners and Engineering teams. The Technical Account Manager should be a solution-oriented advisor and must be able to understand and communicate advanced engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders. In addition to serving as a technical advisor the Technical Account Manager will also help identify new opportunities where our products can better help our partners’ businesses.

SKILLS SUMMARY:

  • Strong acumen for technical account problem solving - including analytic, troubleshooting, and general problem-solving abilities.
  • Great written & verbal communication skills — this candidate will interact with some of our company’s largest clients and partners. Superb attention to detail is an absolute must. Experience with a formal project management method is a plus.
  • Ability to influence people — Clients often come in with an idea of what they want to do and this candidate will be responsible for advising them on the best possible solution, even if it’s not what the client initially thought they wanted. This person will become a technical expert and must be able to act accordingly to consult with the client on their best solution.
  • Fast learner — Candidate must be able to quickly grasp & learn new technical subjects and be able to explain them to others.

An Insider's view of The Trade Desk

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

Our most recent Connected TV (CTV) launch was exciting because CTV is a big industry game changer. A lot of people from the London office worked on the project, so I know about the problems we had to solve in order to get us to the point where we could push it live. I’m excited to see how well it takes off.

What makes someone successful on your team?

Unrelenting curiosity. When you’re given a problem or task, you’re so curious that you become obsessive about solving it. I always know that I’ve found great engineers when they refuse to let go of a problem I’ve given them until they figure it out. This quality proves especially useful for a lot of the problems we work on.

Tim

Senior Software Engineer

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

During the Engineering Palooza event three years ago, a group of 25 engineers, spent a week in Boulder just brainstorming ideas and talking about our next-gen infrastructure. The sheer brain power in that room was absolutely amazing! Since then, the team has grown, ideas have expanded, and we’re tackling more complex problems than ever before.

Arvind

Principal Lead Software Engineer

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Those moments usually involve us looking at vast volumes of data to answer a question or inform a decision. A few examples are investigating how a client uses a certain feature, so we can build a new one to increase efficiency, or helping partners write an attribution model or build a custom report, so they can gain new insights from their data.
