Product Manager

| New York

We’re looking for a talented, creative, and passionate product manager. We value hard work, an orientation for speed and a passion for developing best-in-class user experiences. We’re looking for that right combination of digital media sensibility and e-commerce smarts, someone who can both sweat the details and tie them back to the big picture. The successful candidate should be equally comfortable talking tech with developers, user experience with designers, copy and positioning with marketers, numbers with acquisition marketing, strategy with executive leadership, and our users.
As a product manager, you will work closely across functions, including merchandising, business, creative, marketing and of course, technology. He/She is a problem-solver and has a proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects at the same time. As a Product Manager, you will need to take initiative to understand the pain points and successes of all parts of the business and experience.

What We're Looking For:

  • A self-starter who brings thought leadership to the Product Management function and can drive the product development process in a results oriented, fast-paced environment
  • A data guru who is comfortable performing analysis to surface actionable insights and product requirements with the ability to provide product feature recommendations derived from analysis
  • A customer obsessed, team player who has demonstrated the ability to use qualitative consumer insights (ethnographic, usability) and quantitative (analytics, a/b testing) data to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • A multi-tasker who can create and maintain the sequencing of projects, obsesses over priorities and how they impact the business and thoughtfully weigh out trade-offs between short-term and longer-term strategic goals
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is as crucial as bringing customer centric and usable products to the market
  • A passionate leader who can take charge yet constantly seek opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Responsibilities Include:

  • Help define and steward the vision and product strategy for major portions of the Zola platform
  • Manage the product roadmap. Continuously balance the right expectations with all relevant stakeholders including the senior leadership team
  • Work closely with marketing, merchandising, engineering, finance, operations and other internal teams to deliver products in a timely manner
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may support the organization’s ability to meet its goals
  • Project management across projects and teams to ensure all stakeholders have the information they need and we can deliver the project on time
  • Qualifications:

    • 3-5+ years of experience in mass market consumer-focused e-commerce/technology.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • BA/BS required. MBA preferred.

    • Demonstrated record of partnering with teams across the organization and influencing those to achieve business results across multiple teams who may have different goals.

    • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, schedule tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical and non-technical employees.

    • Ability to translate goals between different teams, between technical and non-technical and measure those goals and the impact they will have on the business.

    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment

    ABOUT ZOLA

At Zola, we are a wedding company, building a smarter wedding suite of wedding products – including a registry, website, guest list manager, and checklist. We are an early-stage, VC-funded consumer technology startup based in New York City. Launched in October 2013, we have quickly become the fastest-growing wedding registry in the United States, with more than 100,000 couples registered. Founded by many of the early team members from Gilt Groupe, we are focused on creating a new kind of e-commerce experience that addresses a huge market — wedding gifts — by reimagining the wedding registry for modern engaged couples and their guests.

Our team brings deep experience from working on award-winning e-commerce sites and mobile apps in past roles at Gilt Groupe, Twitter, Amazon, J.Crew, Bloomingdale’s, Rent The Runway, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Yahoo, and Chloe + Isabel.
