The Vision
Perch has developed a home selling experience that brings control and convenience to homeowners. By harnessing the power of data science, technology, and human-centered design, we’ve developed a seller experience that delivers a market price offer for your home in 24 hours with the ability to close at a time of your choosing. No home showings, no repairs to do, no contingent offers, no fear of the offer falling through before closing. It’s the way a home sale always should have worked. For home buyers, we’re pioneering a new category of homes: Certified Pre-Owned. We renovate the homes we purchase to make them move-in ready and offer a warranty. Buyers can close in a matter of days all online – no paperwork. 
The Role
Perch is seeking a Head of Marketing to join our team. This is an early-stage opportunity to join a company that is transforming the way customers buy and sell their homes. The Head of Marketing is a new role at Perch. 
As a company we believe that the only way to build a leading company in real estate is by building a brand that truly stands for something with a service that solves real customer pain points. We are helping customers with the biggest financial decision they’ll make in their life: the purchase and/or sale of a home. We believe that building a brand that earns our customers’ trust is shaped, in part, by what & how we communicate with customers through online and offline channels and experiences. We’ve had great early success building a high NPS service that is growing every month. We’re looking for the Head of Marketing to take the momentum we’ve built and run with it, ensuring that Perch continues to scale while building a brand that delights customers.
The Head of Marketing must be a strategic leader, but love getting their hands dirty. You will be both people manager and individual contributor. The ideal candidate will be strong in brand story-telling and communication with a sound understanding of customer acquisition and growth strategies. You’ve had experience building moments of customer delight throughout your career that didn’t cost an arm and a leg for your company.
You will work with inspiring colleagues that are similarly driven by serving our customer and came to Perch to collaborate with talented co-workers and do great work. We’ve built a culture of high output and low ego and are seeking candidates who want to work in that environment. The role is NYC-based and reports to the Co-Founder and Head of Growth + Customer Experience, Phil DeGisi. The is a full-time, salaried role with equity package.
The ideal candidate will excel at 3 things: 
  • Building brand and community: every customer touchpoint is an opportunity to build our brand and create differentiation. The offline experience is at least as important as the online experience in our business
  • Driving growth: we need to have a mindset of growth at all times. Unpaid and paid channels need to be consistently tested to help us achieve our ambitious goals
  • Testing and iteration: we can’t be afraid to take chances. We need to leverage sound judgment to know when to just move ahead and try something, knowing that we can iterate and improve it later if there’s a signal of traction

Key responsibilities
This role will be responsible for:
  • Product Marketing: telling a clear story through copy and design is critical. You’ll ensure that we are communicating our service offering through web, one-pagers, in-home experiences, and agent interactions consistently
  • Brand/Community: building a brand that people trust is core to our business. Marketing will partner with our Design team to think through the ways we can build brand at every customer touchpoint: from website to in-home experience to agent interaction
  • Customer Acquisition: we monitor our customer acquisition costs diligently and are focused on driving cost-efficient customer acquisition. We use a blend of both traditional channels (out-of-home, radio, TV), digital, and earned to drive customer acquisition. Testing/learning/optimizing is critical
  • CRM/Email: we leverage email to both nurtures leads as well as promotes the homes we own and are offering to home-buyers. Using intelligent segmentation to deliver the right message at the right time is crucial
  • Team Building: Managing and building a high-performance marketing team is a key part of this role. We have a stellar team of 2 so far and expect to hire more over the next 6 months
 Required Experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in B2C marketing
  • Experience at early/growth stage company required
  • Product marketing experience required
  • Familiarity with customer acquisition strategies/channels
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Experience managing a team
  • Proven track record of success in goal achievement
  • Bachelor’s Degree (MBA a plus)

What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?

Each home is unique and comes with its own challenges and surprises. Even though our team has been through hundreds of transactions, we're always learning, growing, and improving our process with each home we acquire. On the engineering side, that means never being satisfied and constantly pushing ourselves to iterate quickly and deliver quality.
