Communications Manager

The Role:

This role has 2 main functions: PowerPoint deck creator and communications owner. We are looking for an energetic candidate with a passion for the perfect phrase, innovative chart design, and a love of the Oxford comma. You know how to take unformed or vague ideas and turn into compelling stories in PowerPoint. You should be comfortable brainstorming decks as well as executing on the fly. The Communications Manager is responsible for partnering with all teams to create visually compelling and well-written pitch decks and memos for use externally, whether with clients, partners, or other stakeholders. When wearing your other hat, you are an employee cheerleader. You are responsible for creating and delivering high-quality internal communications such as executive updates, employee communications, office and operations, and culture / HR initiatives. The role also acts as the contact point for all media/public relations (writing press releases, building relationships with journalists, booking speaking engagements) and will be a key input into social media and webpage initiatives.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Creating and editing complex pitch decks and memos for all teams including executive, Sales, Marketing, and Product
  • Brainstorming new communications opportunities (digital, animated demos, videos, etc)
  • Maintaining an up-to-date library of communications and design/icons
  • Creating and owning the AlphaSense style guide
  • Working with the CMO and other executives on an internal communications strategy and executing (eg, town halls, updates, intranet, employee surveys, employee events)
  • Partnering with teams to promote Employer Brand ideas and campaigns
  • Acting as contact point for media/PR (eg, media relations, crisis communications, press event planning and execution, industry associations, awards)
  • Managing any vendor relationships (agencies)

 Candidate Requirements:

  • BA degree (communications, journalism, or English preferable)
  • 5-7 years experience in internal communications or corporate communications
  • Expertise in developing PowerPoint, spoken and video communications, and managing calendars and schedules
  • Extremely strong writer and copy editor, and proficient presentation design skills
  • Ability to write in a variety of voices and styles
  • Ability to work comfortably with executives and outside stakeholders
  • Understanding of media world and how to work with journalists—or strong desire to learn
  • Mastery of standard business applications (eg, PPT, Word, Excel)
  • Experience with social media and digital applications (eg, WordPress)
  • Background in B2B companies preferred
  • Highly organized, able to multitask and work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • A good attitude and sense of humor a must
